Elections at the GSA

The GSA elections are your opportunity to shape the future of McMaster’s graduate community. Held annually at the end of February, these elections decide the leadership for the upcoming academic year. By getting involved, you can help represent your peers and contribute to the success of the GSA.

Elected Positions

Executive Positions
The elected executive team serves a one-year term from May 1st to April 30th. These roles are integral to managing the operations, advocacy, and services provided by the GSA.


Executive Officer Roles:

  • President: Provides overall leadership and represents graduate students.

  • Vice President External: Advocates for external partnerships and collaborations.

  • Vice President Administration: Oversees organizational operations and record-keeping.

  • Vice President Internal: Focuses on internal affairs and graduate community engagement.

  • Vice President Services: Manages student services and support programs.


Faculty Representatives on Council (FRC)

Faculty Representatives ensure that the unique perspectives of graduate students from various faculties are heard within the GSA. These representatives also serve a one-year term from May 1st to April 30th.

By-Elections

A by-election is held in September to fill any vacant positions for executive roles and Faculty Representative Council (FRC) seats. This ensures all roles are fully staffed to best serve the graduate student community.
