
The Association of Iranian Muslims (AIM) is a non-political graduate student club at McMaster University, dedicated to fostering religious and cultural activities. AIM provides a spiritual, inclusive, and friendly environment for Iranian and Muslim students while welcoming individuals from all faiths and backgrounds.
Our Mission
Spiritual and Academic Growth: We create a space for students to deepen their understanding of Islam and the Quran in a scholarly and respectful setting.
Cultural Awareness: AIM organizes events to promote the peaceful teachings of Islam and Shia faith, dispelling misconceptions and fostering interfaith dialogue.
Community Building: Through regular gatherings and family-friendly activities, we connect with students and the local community to encourage mutual respect and understanding.
Our Activities
Weekly Sessions:
Recitation of a Hizb from the Holy Quran.
Scholarly exegesis by our Vice President, Hassan Doagoo, a PhD candidate in Religious Studies.
Congregational prayer followed by social gatherings.
When: Every Friday at 7:00 PM
Where: McMaster University Center
Annual Events:
Celebrations of Islamic occasions such as Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and Norouz.
Spiritual reflections on Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Destiny) and commemorations like the Mourning of Muharram.
Interfaith joint sessions with other religious clubs on campus.
Community and Nature:
Family-friendly events in Hamilton and surrounding areas to promote environmental ethics and strengthen community bonds.
